Freshers’ Reception Held at Bogura Nursing College

A freshers’ reception ceremony was held in a festive atmosphere at Bogura Nursing College to welcome newly admitted students. The programme was organized on Monday (October 5) in the morning on the college campus.

The event was chaired by Ruby Akhter Banu, Principal of Bogura Nursing College. Dr. Mawduad Hossain Alamgir Pavel, President of the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS), attended the programme as the chief guest.

Among the special guests were Dr. Wadudul Haque Tarfder Nahid, Principal of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital; Brigadier General SM Nurul Erfan, Director of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital; Dr. Md. Farzanul Haque, Civil Surgeon of Bogura; Mst. Anwara Khatun, Nursing Superintendent of Mohammad Ali Hospital; Md. Najia Khatun, In-charge of Bogura Nursing and Midwifery College; and Mst. Rozina Khatun, District Public Health Nurse, along with other officials concerned.

The newly admitted students were welcomed with flowers. The guests encouraged them to uphold the dignity and responsibilities of the nursing profession and to develop themselves as skilled, compassionate, and service-oriented nurses.

In his speech, Chief Guest Dr. Mawduad Hossain Alamgir Pavel said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman have been working in the healthcare sector. He encouraged the students to build themselves through education, saying there is no lack of goodwill from the government. He also advised them to spend less time on Facebook, focus on books, and make good use of the positive aspects of the internet.

The speakers emphasized that nurses play a vital role in healthcare services. They urged the newly admitted students to move forward in their professional lives with sincerity, responsibility, and strong humanitarian values, alongside providing quality care to patients.

Teachers, students, officers, and employees of the college attended the programme. The event concluded with a cultural programme featuring performances by the newly admitted students.
