Staff Reporter, Bogura:To harness industrial potential, a 400-acre BSCIC industrial park, a multi-dimensional university in Bogura, the foundation stone laying of the Bogura-Sirajganj railway line, initiatives to launch flights at the Bogura international airport, construction of an overpass over the city railway line, establishment of a Bogura road zone, an international football stadium along with a sports village, and the revival of the Karatoya River—a series of development project announcements have emerged in Bogura. At the same time, three key ministers and state ministers of the government have expressed their firm resolve to overcome discrimination and neglect to ensure the fair development of Bogura and the northern region.​These development plans were highlighted in the speeches of the three ministers holding portfolios across seven ministries during the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected board of directors of the Bogura Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This has sparked renewed hope among business owners, industrialists, and the general public in Bogura.​The inaugural ceremony was held on Saturday (August 8, 2026) at 11:00 AM at the Momin Convention Centre in Bogura, where Commerce, Industries, and Textiles and Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir MP graced the event as the chief guest.​He stated, "Our surveys show there is immense demand for industrial development in Bogura. However, according to that demand, little development has taken place here. In response, a BSCIC industrial park will be established on 400 acres of land in Bogura."​The minister added, "Bogura is the center of our emotions. The government will take necessary initiatives to tap into the industrial and business potential of this region."​The ceremony was inaugurated by Road Transport and Bridges, Railways, and Shipping Minister Sheikh Rabiul Islam. In his inaugural address, he said, "Bogura has enriched Bangladesh's politics. The Father of Nationalism, martyred President Ziaur Rahman, was a son of Bogura. His contribution to nation-building can never be forgotten. The entire country remains grateful to Bogura for this."​He further remarked, "There is no doubt that Bogura has been deprived over the past 20 years. Yet, the people of Bogura have made significant contributions to the country's economic prosperity. The people of this region are hardworking and honest. Bogura's development is being pursued for the sake of national progress."​Special guest of the event, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam MP, highlighted various government plans for Bogura's development.​He said, "Bogura is a food-surplus district. Products produced in Bogura create a market worth around TK 3,500 crore that reaches across the country and abroad. Yet, until now, we were neglected. In a non-discriminatory Bangladesh, Bogura's deficits are being addressed through development based on fairness."​Regarding the Bogura-Sirajganj railway line, he stated, "The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the Bogura-Sirajganj railway line next November-December." Expressing optimism about the Bogura airport, the state minister said, "Efforts are underway to launch the airport at least on domestic routes by January 2027. Work on a drone manufacturing factory will begin next month."​He also mentioned plans to build an overpass over the railway line to ease traffic congestion in Bogura city. "An overpass will be constructed over the railway line in Bogura city. This will significantly reduce city traffic congestion," he said. Regarding the Karatoya River, Mir Shahe Alam noted, "Through government initiatives, life is returning to the once-gushing Karatoya River."​Highlighting plans for sports infrastructure development, he said, "A sports village will be built at Tinmatha in Bogura. It will feature an international-standard football stadium along with all necessary sports facilities."​Highlighting the geographical and economic importance of Bogura, the state minister said, "Bogura cannot be compared with Gopalganj. People from 13 districts travel through Bogura. From agriculture to industry, Bogura is prosperous in every aspect. For the past 20 years, Bogura has been deprived in various ways. Hearing the name of Bogura brought all kinds of neglect over the last two years."​The event was also addressed by Bogura-6 Member of Parliament Rezaul Karim Badsha, Bogura-5 Member of Parliament Golam Mohammad Siraj, Bogura-4 Member of Parliament Mosharraf Hossain, Bogura-7 Member of Parliament Morshed Milton, Bogura-3 Member of Parliament Abdul Muhit Talukdar, Bogura City Corporation Administrator M.R.
